We asked everyone we knew, and soon we were on a new path— well, more like a bumpy winding, downhill slope. It took almost five years to finally get an answer to solving our epilepsy puzzle.
The long version of this story is similar to stories of so many families we meet each year as advocates and producers of Epilepsy Awareness Day at Disneyland® Resort and the Epilespy Awareness and Education Expo. I don’t need to lay out all of the details, but I am happy to say the journey to cure our daughter, Sofie, ended on a Friday, ten years ago, at University of California, Los Angeles Mattel Children’s Hospital.
