Being Part of a Family

Patrick Rosser came to EFL referred by a friend. He faced the following problems of not knowing anything about epilepsy, misdiagnosis and not feeling part of a group. He quickly became involved in EFL activities by attending support groups and fundraising. He started feeling he belonged to something greater than himself and wanted to help others to see that as well.  These activities helped him bring community awareness and self-awareness seeing he wasn’t the only one with epilepsy. He states the greatest thing he has gained from EFL is “feeling part of a family or group”. Some of the challenges he will continue to face are weakness and fatigue from seizures, but he just continues and focuses on the future. He’s looking forward to going back to face-to-face support groups and continuing services with EFL.
