Elizabeth Perez

My name is Elizabeth Perez. I am 34 years old.  The day that I was supposed to be born, my mom started having contractions so she went to the doctor. The doctor told my  mom she was not ready to deliver and he sent her home. My mom returned the same day to the hospital and I was born on August 10, 1982. I did not get enough oxygen and I began having seizures. I was in intensive care for 14 days until the seizures were controlled. I went home on day 21. My last seizure was at 11 years old but I stayed on medication until I was 18 years old. I was a patient of The Epilepsy Foundation of Florida while on medication until I was 18 years old, which I stopped taking medication within 6 months. Since then I am seizure and medication free. I appreciate all the help from The Epilepsy Foundation growing up. I am excited to participate in the Walk the Talk for Epilepsy for the first time this year and  I want to be more involved in the foundation and I hope to help and inspire people. Thank you and God bless you all.
