GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The second enrollment period to sign up for Obamacare ends in two weeks. Getting help with enrollment is as easy as a phone call.

New data shows the Sunshine State is leading the country in healthcare enrollment – more than 1.2 million Floridians have enrolled.

The Epilepsy Foundation of Florida is offering free enrollment assistance to those residents who need it.

People at the Foundation are heading out across North Central Florida to answer questions and even walk people through the enrollment process.

Mandy Hancock Anderson, Community Development Manager of Epilepsy Foundation, says they’re focusing on eduaction.

“A lot of our efforts have been based on education and motivate people to actually get out and take action on enrolling.”

The Foundation has open hours during the week at their Gainesville office on 8 Avenue and is holding various events across the region.

Tiffen Tapia, a Health Navigator, says the staff can help with any question regarding enrollment.

“We help them answer any questions they might have about affordable health coverage,” Tapia explains. “We can also help them enroll through the process and even use our computer to help them enroll.”

City College, in Gainesville, brought the Epilepsy Foundation to their campus this week to help students ensure they are covered.

“The different demographics we serve here at City College include students who typically haven’t had full access to these vital resources,” City College Library Director Janice Dees says.

Hancock-Anderson says the organization encourages everyone to participate.

“Take action, talk to a navigator to see what to see what your status is.” She says the process takes about 20-30 minutes. A person can receive coverage in about an hour.

A short amount of time that can save a person a couple hundred dollars on their tax return.

The Epilepsy Foundation can be reached at 352-378-4324 or you can make an appointment online at getcoveredamerica.org
