MEREDITH PENCE

Meredith Pence doesn’t know what life is like without seizures.

When she was six months old, her first tonic clonic seizure occurred, and they have been a fixture in her life ever since. Diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy, seizure control is difficult, but she is not a candidate for surgery. She has tried different medications and drug trials and is currently on six medications in an effort to control her seizures. Even with six medications, Meredith has seizures two to three times per month.

It hasn’t been easy, but with her outgoing personality, Meredith makes the best of every day. She loves taekwando and Disney World. Her favorite place in the world is Camp Boggy Creek. It was at camp that she met her best friend, Taylor.

Meredith speaks openly about her epilepsy. She even had the opportunity to address a pharmaceutical company’s annual conference. Her greatest hope is a cure. More than anything, she just wants to be like every other kid.

Meredith and her family have been involved with the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida since Meredith’s diagnosis. They are appreciative of the support and services the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida provides, but most of all, Camp Boggy Creek!
