Persistence Pays Off

Dylan Scott came to Epilepsy Alliance Florida needing medical and prescription services.

Dylan is a 27 yr. old male who suffers from epilepsy. In 2015, 1.2% of the total US population had active epilepsy.

A referral was completed for him to see a neurologist.  The Neurologist then prescribed an AED and Dylan could not afford it. AEDs are the most commonly used treatment for epilepsy. They help control seizures in around 7 out of 10 of people. AEDs work by changing the levels of chemicals in your brain. They do not cure epilepsy but may stop seizures from happening. His case manager at Epilepsy Alliance Florida researched for the best option to help assist with the prescription.  A Prescription Assistance Program-Sunovion to assist with Aptiom was the answer.

With great determination and persistence Epilepsy, Florida finally got Dylan approved for the program and his medication is now completely free.  His mother has been very appreciative during this whole process and is very thankful to Epilepsy Alliance Florida and his case manager for all that was done for her son to get the medical and prescription services he needed.
